  Vintage Edition of Black Beauty Rare edition of Black Beauty by Anna Sewell – published by The Youth’s Companion, Boston. Book is 4 5/8” x 6 13/16” x 11/16”. This book appears to have been published in 1890 with a foreword by Geo. T. Angell, President of the American Humane Education Society, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Parent Band of Mercy, 19 Milk Street, Boston.
This is a very unique edition, and for its age, it is in good condition. The binding is still tight, there are no missing pages, and no writing in the book. On the inside back cover there is a printed article that has been glued in. The article is titled, “Some Horse Don’ts.”
The spine of the book is missing about 1/4" at the top and the bottom. Pages are discolored from age. There are no tears or corner folds. The novel has 245 pages. Additional pages make reference to the Humane Society. This book is a great collector piece.
